Wick trimming: I have found straight toenail or fingernail clippers work the best for trimming X-Wicks. Our candles will be shipped with the wicks for the right height for the initial burn which is very important to keep the candle from "tunneling". For every burn after the initial burn we recommend trimming the wicks to 1/4 inch height when necessary.
Initial and subsequent burning: To prevent "tunneling" you should let the candle fully "pool" out before extinguishing. For the best burn, let your candle burn until the entire top layer becomes a pool of liquid wax from edge to edge before extinguishing it. In the right conditions this can be anywhere from 1 to 2 hours for our 7 or 8 oz candles.
Avoid burning candles for more than 3 hours at a time.
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep candles and Wax warmers out of the reach of children and pets.
Extinguish a candle before leaving the room. Only burn candles on stable flat surfaces that are fire resistant and away from flammable objects.
Avoid burning candles near drafts. The candle jar will become warm to hot while burning. Do not handle candles while they are burning.
When the wax is 1/2 of an inch or less from the bottom of the jar, it’s time to discontinue the use of your candle.
Wax Melt Safety
Always use a wax warmer designed for wax melts. Do not use a candle warmer or a hot plate to melt wax melts. These devices can get too hot and cause the wax to catch fire.
Never leave a wax warmer or melter unattended. If you must leave the room, turn off the wax warmer or unplug it.
Keep wax melts and wax warmers out of reach of children and pets. Wax melts can be a choking hazard for young children, and they can also cause harm to pets if they are ingested.
Do not warm wax melts near anything that can catch fire. This includes curtains, furniture, and bedding.
